You may estimate the annualised return as: 50,00,000 – 30,00,000 / 30,00,000 * 100 * (1/5) Annualised Return = 13.33%.

As in other projects, IT managers can easily make some mistakes when calculating the ROI of software. One of them, which is quite recurrent, is to overestimate the expected benefits and, in contrast, underestimate the costs other than the acquisition/use of the software.
